A Glimse Of KickBxing In The Arab Countries And Jordan
Kick boxing is considerably the most brilliant sport of the martial arts in the modern world.IT
has spread widely in the world for several reasons its matches are full of art and excitement, the
contimal development in its laws,the insitence on the players safely and thier protection and for
its multi-styled matches.
This sport is mixture between boxing and karate and taekwondo. it was developed
scientifically on a principle of development,flexibility,edification and safety.
The sport arrived late in the arab home because of capabilities,but now,it has spread
rapidly overcoming the other martial arts. Independent federation were founded in
lebanon,moroco,iraq,palestine,tunisia and recently in jordan.In other countries,it is part
of the boxing federation such as kuwait and egypt. The best achievment for this sport
in the Arab World is the foundation of the arab federation of kickboxing sport(AFKS)in
beirut on the 17 JULY 1997.
Some arab countries acheived good result on an international scale.For example,lebanon
cam top in the world kickboxing championships for amateurs in italy in 1997.Still,We need
more development for this sport,but is is good we have started our way in kickboxing.
In JORDAN Kickboxing was founded in 1991 by master RAMZI AL NOEIMI
on his coming back from kuwait
which was quarter for arab instructors especially the international master WALID KASSAS
(7th Dan).the founder
of kickboxing in the arab world.Many of them came back to their home after the gulf crisis in 1990
to lay teh foundations for kickboxing.
In Jordan kickboxing was exposed to a severe campaign fromthe other martial arts because
they thought that kickboxing was a source of danger of them. The sport has suffered a lot
before it was accredited by the ministry of youth and sport in 1994 and it was part of the
boxing federation.Formal activities began in 1995 and jordan participated in an arab-mini champion
.Jordan was the black horse in this championship because it competed lebanon who came top.Later
kickboxing suffered again fromthe kickboxing federation until 1998 when kickboxing had its own federation on the 20 JUNE 1998.
This is considered as a great acheivement and a brilliant future of kickboxing players in
jordan.In addition,the AFKS agreed on giving jordan the honour of holding the formal
Arab Championship in OCTOBER 1998.
Hopefully the new federation will care more about teh talents and abilities of jordanians to
enable them to complete on an international scale like Moroco and Lebanon.
